Youth & Family Services
Strengthening families is a priority for Catholic Charities. Children and young adults sometimes separate from their extended families in their countries of origin, and migrate to the United States for various reasons. They may:
– Be victims of human trafficking.
– Enter the U.S. without documentation or documents that grant temporary asylum.
– Receive refugee status but have no guardians to care for them.
– Come from Haiti and receive permission to live and work in the U.S. temporarily because of the difficulties in their homeland.
Catholic Charities offers Youth and Family Services to assist undocumented children and children with refugee status who enter the United States alone, and Haitian families living temporarily in South Florida.
Our Unaccompanied Minors Program serves undocumented children under the age of 18 who are not living with a parent/guardian.
Our Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program assists youth under the age of 23 who are granted refugee status and enter the United States without a parent/guardian.
Our Pierre Toussaint Center assists people from Haiti who are seeking political asylum or have been granted TPS status.
