Catholic Charities of the
Archdiocese of Miami has a unique foster care
program where we worked with displaced refugee
children and adolescents from around the world and
place them in safe loving homes within our South
Florida community.
Our Unaccompanied Refugee
Minors Program (URMP) is always looking for
families and individuals who are stable and willing
to go through our screening & preparation process in
order to become foster parents. Our children and
teens are ethnically diverse and as such we are
recruiting for families /individuals who are cultural
sensitive and willing to make a difference in the
lives of our children.
The ideal foster parent
candidate has:
-
A good heart
-
A loving and
safe home
-
A bed and
place for child/teen to store personal
belongings
-
A Miami-Dade
address
-
A financial
stable situation (sufficient income to pay your
own bills)
-
A clean
criminal and civil background
-
Time and an
open mind to participate in our free Model
Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP)
workshops to prepare you as a foster parent
If this is you or someone
you know, please contact us, so we can provide you
more information and the dates of our next
orientation and/or free workshops.
In order to be considered you
do not have to be Catholic, married, or have
children.
We work together as partners to
ensure the child’s needs are addressed, such as
clothing, school, medical, and other support
services. These are provided as part of our program
at no cost to the foster parent. Additionally, you
also will receive a monthly stipend to assist you
with caring for the child.
The goal is to ensure that our
children and teens are in safe and loving homes as
they begin a new life in this country.
FRIENDS of URMP-we are also
looking for volunteers and mentors for our teens,
contact us to find out how your gifts and talents
can be shared and matched to one of our kids. As
part of our FRIENDS circle you can choose to donate
your time, resources, talents, materials, and/or
something unique only you can provide!!!
